![]() Peroj is a beautiful small village in the municipality of Vodnjan. It became famous during the time of the Romans who built the "holiday houses" along the coast and on the islands of Brioni. In the past, Peroj was known under the name “Casale Petriolo”. Nowadays, Peroj is characterized by a high urban development intended to convert this area into a tourist region. The location is particularly appealing, outside the holiday resorts area and far from the urban centre. Moreover, it is an excellent starting point to the most attractive tourist destinations: Fažana, Pula, Medulin, Brijuni Islands, Umag, Poreč, Rovinj. Surrounded by typical Mediterranean vegetation, olive groves and vineyards, Peroj is the ideal place for well-being and recreation. It is also the perfect place to enjoy the magnificent view of the Brijuni islands, especially at the sunset.
It is a vast area of typical local houses settled along with the manor farms (dry stone walls surrounding the real estates) that witnesses the long agricultural tradition of the inhabitants that mostly dedicated their time to the farming of olive groves and vineyards as their everyday occupation. |
